India has rejected the remarks on Jammu and Kashmir by the Pak Foreign Minister as unacceptable and untenable. Expressing disappointment over the remarks by Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi in his address at the UN General Assembly, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that Pakistan should reflect inward and try to sort out its own problems. Mr. Krishna said that such remarks cannot divert attention from the multiple problems Pakistan is facing. He said that democratic institutions in India guarantee fundamental rights to all its citizens including the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, sources in the External Affairs Ministry today said that the United States has made it clear that issues between the two countries are to be resolved by the two of them and there is no question of any mediation.
