India expresses concern over incidents of violence in Nepal

India has expressed its concern over the incidents of violence resulting in death and injury in regions of Nepal bordering India following the promulgation of new Constitution. Ministry of External Affairs, in a release, highlighted the difficulties faced by Indian freight companies and transporters in movement within Nepal due to prevailing unrest. It said New Delhi has repeatedly cautioned the political leadership of the Himalayan nation to take urgent steps to defuse tension. <br/> <br/>India has consistently argued that all sections of Nepal must reach a consensus on their differences, saying that the issues are political in nature and cannot be resolved through force. It has also expressed hope that Nepal's leadership will take effective and credible steps to address the causes of confrontation. <br/><br/> Indian envoy to Nepal Ranjit Rae today briefed the government on the latest situation in that country. Official sources said, Mr Rae, who had spoken to the Nepalese Prime Minister yesterday to convey India's concerns over the violent situation in several parts of Nepal bordering India, was called for consultations in New Delhi.
