India has expressed concern over the huge gap in the progress of the construction of the Integrated Check Post, ICP, being built at Jogbani in India and Biratnagar in Nepal. Secretary (Border management ), A.E Ahmad said in Kathmandu today, while they have received positive response from Nepal Government there is a need for awareness in Nepal that the construction of the Integrated Check post would greatly facilitate trade and movement of people across the border. He was on a three-day visit to Nepal to attend the 5th meeting of the Steering Committee of the integrated check post project. The target of the second ICP is to be completed by July 2012. The construction of the ICP at Raxual-Birjunj from which about eighty per cent of trade between Nepal and India takes place is on. The investment on the Integrated Check post in Nepal is being funded completely by India. In the third phase the Integrated Check Post would be built at Sunauli, Bhairahwaa and Rupaidia, Nepagunj. Mr. Ahmed said India is committed to the future of Nepal and India is investing in Nepal. As part of India’s commitment, India is building 1300 km roads along the border with Nepal which would greatly facilitate the people of Nepal.
