India expanding & diversifying its exports: Anand Sharma

Expressing confidence that the trade and industry will be on the path of positive growth in the final quarter of the current fiscal, the government today said that it will intervene and do more for the sectors which require support. Outlining various steps taken by the government in the wake of global melt-down, the Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Anand Sharma said, the government is expanding and diversifying the country's exports and has identified 39 additional markets for Indian goods. Speaking at the Economic Editors' Conference in New Delhi today, Mr. Sharma said, the inflow of FDI has been encouraging in the first six months of the current fiscal and it may go up by 15 billion dollars. He also said that a relief package for small coffee growers will be announced soon. The Minister said that a Group of Ministers, GoM, will go into structural issues to rejuvenate the plantation sector to make it globally competitive.
