India and EU delegations are discussing a free trade pact in New Delhi on Wednesday. Official sources said, the two sides will hold a series of meetings for the proposed Bilateral Investment and Trade Agreement (BITA) till Friday. Further talks may also be held to conclude the agreement well in time for their summit in Brussels in December. AIR correspondent reports, the comprehensive market opening pact, talks for which started in 2007, is likely to boost the India-EU bilateral trade of 75 billion US Dollars. The EU is India’s largest trading partner, while India is the 10th largest trading partner for the 27-nation bloc. The issue of India-EU trade pact also came for discussions during the meeting between Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari and European Council President Herman von Rompuy in Brussels on Tuesday. Secretary (East),in the Ministry of External Affairs Latha Reddy had told reporters in Brussels that the negotiations for BITA are progressing well.
