India enter World Group in Davis Cup Tennis

India have regained their place in the Elite World Group in Davis Cup Tennis. On the third and final day of the World Group Play-off Tie in Chennai today, the hosts scripted a sensational 3-2 win over Brazil, by clinching both the reverse singles. Somdev Devvarman led World Number 27 Thomas Belluci 7-6, 4-0 when Bellucci conceded the first Reverse Singles, failing to negotiate hot and humid conditions. Later, Rohan Bopanna came out firing on all cylinders to beat 75th ranked Ricardo Mello 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Yesterday, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi kept India's chances alive by winning the Doubles match. It is India's first ever win in a Davis Cup Tie from a 0-2 defecit.
