India beat Australia by 5 wickets. Earlier, Australian skipper Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to bat. Australian had a very cautious start after losing their opener Shane Watson cheaply. It was Ponting who came to rescue the team and scored a splendid 104, followed by Brad Haddin 53 runs. Ponting notched up his 30th ODI century and his 5th in the World Cup to silence his detractors. For India, Zahir Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Ashwin claimed two wickets each.
