Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday exuded confidence that the economy would soon break the double-digit growth barrier. <br/><br/>Addressing the 82nd Annual General meeting of FICCI in New Delhi, he said he has taken a number of measures in the budget to accelerate growth. Mr. Mukherjee said the stimulus measures will not be fully withdrawn until a robust recovery is achieved. <br/><br/>He expressed concern over high food inflation and the ambiguous nature of recovery in exports due to the uncertainty prevailing in the developed economies. He was hopeful to see the economy breaking the double-digit growth barrier in the very near future, which is essential for reducing poverty in the country. <br/><br/>Mr. Mukherjee said he is committed to fiscal consolidation in the interest of the economy's capacity to sustain growth in the medium to long term.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, who presented the budget for the next fiscal in Parliament yesterday, has focused on agriculture, services and infrastructure to generate higher growth.
