Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday held discussion with his visiting Swedish counterpart Mr. Goran Hagglund and his delegation in New Delhi. On this occasion Mr. Azad said that India has a lot to learn from Sweden in the field of Public Health. Sweden has succeeded in reducing maternal and infant mortality to the lowest. The Minister also noted that Sweden is pioneering policies in the field of Anti Microbial Resistance and Elderly Care. For the 12th Plan, Mr. Azad said, India is eager to learn from Sweden's Policy for Health, particularly to ensure Universal Health Coverage at affordable prices so that the population has equal access to health care services. A letter of Intent was also signed between National Communicable Disease Centre, NCDC and its Swedish counterpart.
