India desires of peaceful relationship with Pak: Krishna

India on sunday said that it would like to see a stable and prosperous Pakistan. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna who visited Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, wrote in the Vistitors' Book that he believes that two sovereign countries, India and Pakistan can and need to live respectfully and in peace, as good neighbours.

He wrote that both the countries also need to work closely together to ensure a brighter future for their people. To this end, India remains committed to build a relationship of trust and mutually beneficial all round cooperation with Pakistan.

Earlier, Mr. Krishna met the Punjab Governor and attended the lunch hosted by Chief Minister Shabaz Sharif. Mr. Krishna paid a day long visit to Lahore in the last leg of his three day tour to Pakistan. He told Pakistani journalists at the Allama Iqbal Airport that his visit was fruitful as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and people of India want peaceful relationship with Pakistan. He said, peaceful relationship between India and Pakistan, would be helpful for the prosperity of the region.
