The President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor and Nobel Prize winner Jose Ramos Horta has said that India deserves permanent membership in the UN Security Council than any other nation. He was delivering the first international lecture of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Development Studies at Thiruvananathapuram. Recalling the simplicity and leadership qualities of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he said that India is an emerging economic power and the world recognises the same with admiration. Mr. Horta called upon Asian countries to come together and lead rest of the world in addressing global climate change.
