India today denied news reports in a section of press in Sri Lanka claiming that Indian missiles have been deployed targeting Sri Lanka's strategic installations.

The statement issued by Indian High Commission in Colombo says that the Indian missile programme is defensive in nature and is not directed against any country. The statement rejected speculative reports saying that such rumours are intended to mislead people and affect the relations between the two countries.
