India demands credible action by Pak in Mumbai terror attack

India today demanded credible action by Pakistan in the 26/11 terror attack case. Foreign secretary Nirupama Rao has said that core issue of addressing the country's concerns on the Mumbai carnage will be part of these parleys. <br/><br/>She said that New Delhi has underlined to Islamabad to take the evidence and additional evidence provided in the 16 dossiers on board seriously to bring the terror masters to justice. <br/><br/>The foreign secretary Ms.Nirupama Rao is leaving for Islamabad tomorrow to hold discussions with his Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir. <br/><br/>Ms. Rao and Mr Bashir had met on 25th of February in New Delhi as a first step towards restoring trust and confidence between the two countries. <br/><br/>A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said that, during her stay in Islamabad, Ms Rao would also call on Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. <br/><br/>The meeting takes place less than a month ahead of the proposed talks between External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Mr. Qureshi in Islamabad on July 15.<br/> <br/>The Home Minister P. Chidambaram is due to visit Islamabad for the SAARC Interior Ministers' meeting on June 26. He will hold separate meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik . Mr. Chidambram will press for action against the terrorists responsible for terror attacks against India. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that the fresh initiative to reduce the trust deficit was taken after the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani in Thimphu, Bhutan on the margins of the SAARC Summit on April 29. <br/><br/>Dr Singh made it clear to Mr Gilani at that meeting that India is willing to discuss all matters of mutual concern but said the issue of terrorism was holding back progress in relationship between the two countries. <br/><br/>The two Prime Ministers decided that their Foreign Ministers and Foreign Secretaries would meet soon to work out the modalities of creating trust and confidence in the relationship.This they said will pave the way for a substantive dialogue in which all matters of concern to both sides would be discussed.
