India defeated Italy 5-1 in their last group stage encounter of the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers at Ranchi, because of two goals from Udita and contributions from Deepika, Salima Tete, and Navneet. The Indian team will take on Germany in the semifinals.
 
India got off to a poor start in the tournament with a 1-Nil loss to the United States, but they bounced back well to beat New Zealand 3-1 in their second game.
