India continue to remain fastest growing economy: FM Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said India will continue to remain the fastest growing economy and attaining 7 to 8 per cent growth is reasonably plausible. <br/><br/>Addressing the 23rd Conference of Auditors General of Commonwealth nations and British Overseas Territories in New Delhi today, Mr Jaitley said, demonetisation will act as disincentive for shadow economy and will integrate informal with formal economy. <br/><br/>He said, GST will be the biggest reform and government trying to implement it by 1st of July. Mr Jaitley said, GST will transform complex indirect tax system to simple system and it will make tax evasion difficult. Finance Minister added that reforms in FDI have expanded and India has become one of the most open economies in the world. <br/>'<br/>India is hosting this conference for the first time and the representatives of the participating nations will look into the scope of leveraging technology in public audit as well as share experiences on environment audit. The three day conference is being attended by 52 Commonwealth Countries and 9 British Overseas Territories. <br/><br/>The auditing organizations in these countries come together every three years to discuss the major challenges before them. The last such conference was held in Malta in 2014.
