India is confident of doubling its exports to 400 billion US Dollars by 2014. According to highly placed government sources, the projection is based on nearly 27 percent growth in exports this year and upcoming market opening pacts with European Union, Japan and Malaysia. India will be signing a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement with Malaysia and a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Japan early next year. According to Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, the country is on track to achieve its targeted of 200 billion US Dollars goods-exports in 2010-11 despite a weak global economic recovery. this is due to the exports showing a growth of close to 27 percent this year compared to the last fiscal. AIR correspondent reports that India has engaged all major economic regions and has entered free trade, preferential and comprehensive economic partnerships and cooperation agreements for this reason.
