India conducts its 1st night-trial of nuclear capable Agni-II Missile

India has conducted its first night-trial of nuclear-capable Agni-II intermediate range ballistic missile from Wheeler Island off Orissa coast. The missile was launched at 7.45 tonight. This is the first time a missile was launched for user-trial during night since beginning of the missile development programmes by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO). The 2,000-km plus range Agni-II with a payload of about 1,000 kg has been designed to be launched from a rail and mobile launchers and also road-mobile configuration. The aim of the night trial is reported to provide on-field experience to the armed forces to gauge the accuracy during night. Meanwhile, hundreds of senior army officials and scientists witnessed the launch at the test range.<br/>
