Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to the Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak and expressed his condolences on the loss of lives on board MH17 aircraft.

President Pranab Mukherjee has also conveyed his sincere grief and sympathy over the crash. According to a Rashtrapati Bhawan communique, Mukherjee in his message to the King of Malaysia said that the country's thoughts and prayers are with the families of the nationals of Malaysia and other countries who lost their lives in this tragic incident.
