India commits Rs. 8.5 bn to Bhutan for Small Development Project for country's 11th FYP

India has committed 8.5 billion rupees to Bhutan for Small Development Project for the country's the 11th Five Year Plan. The Small Development Project Committee has given approval for 59 projects worth 1.8 billion rupees under the programme. The Small development project is part of the forty -five billion rupees committed to Bhutan's 11th year plan by India. The first meeting in Thimphu of the Small development project Committee which includes two representatives from the government of India and Bhutan has approved fiftynine projects amounting to 1.8 billion rupees.While thirty nine of the projects are to be implemented by the local government and twenty by the Central agencies the projects are mostly to improve rural livelihoods with the committee stating that there was a positive impact of the small development projects during the tenth five year plan period in Bhutan.
