India and China are trying to find more effective mechanism to prevent unprecedented incidents of incursion on Line of Actual Control,LoC, on their borders. Talking to media persons after paying homage to Kargil martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi today on the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister AK Antony said, there is still no settlement on the border issue and talks are going on.
He also referred to the just concluded meeting of the 3rd round of working mechanism in New Delhi in this context. Mr. Antony said, both sides are patrolling in the border area and sometimes it leads to face-off. The Chiefs of three services accompanied the Defence Minister.
AIR correspondent reports that several functions are being organized all over the country to commemorate the contribution of the Armed forces in Kargil war. India had successfully taken command of the high outposts that had been occupied by Pakistani intruders, on this day in 1999. The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days.
