India, China to sign MOU on climate change

India and China are to sign a memorandum of understanding on climate change tomorrow. The two sides are also holding a joint workshop on National action plan on climate change to share their experiences with regard to the scientific technical and policy aspects of global warming in the two countries. AIR correspondent says that both India and China share the view that the developed nations need to do more than the developing countries to fight climate change as per the Kyoto Protocol. The workshop comes ahead of a high level conference in Delhi beginning Thursday to promote international technology development and transfer. The two day conference will focus on technology scenario, working out a mechanism for promoting technology transfer to developing countries and to increase the scope for cooperation in research and development. The conference to be organized by the Indian government in collaboration with United Nations economic and social affairs will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The visiting President of Maldives is the guest of honour at the conference.
