President Pratibha Devi singh Patil has said her 6-day State visit to China was successful and both the countries have agreed to expand, deepen and diversify the strategic and cooperative partnership.<br/><br/>Addressing media person onboard her special flight from Shanghai to Delhi today, she said her talks with the Chinese leadership in Beijing were warm, friendly and cordial and the commitment of Chinese leadership to strengthen bilateral ties was evident. <br/><br/>China’s assurance to support India’s desire to play a greater role in the United Nations, especially the Security Council was a major outcome of the meetings that Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil had with the Chinese leadership. Onboard her special flight she has said, both the countries have also agreed to increase mutual cooperation and coordination in multilateral economic forums including in the G-20 and the Doha Round of global trade negotiations.<br/><br/>The President has suggested that Governments of both the countries must expand people-to-people contacts through greater cultural exchanges, tourism, educational linkages and scientific projects. In this context, dedication of an Indian-style Buddhist temple at Lyoyang to Chinese people was a noble gesture from India and establishment of Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore’s statue in Shanghai was an important initiative from the Chinese side.<br/><br/>In the last leg of her six-day State tour to China, President Pratibha Patil also visited Shanghai and interacted with Indian Community there. Before winding up her visit, she addressed an India-China Business Forum wherein she called upon businesspersons from both the countries to promote bilateral economic exchanges.<br/><br/>With the President’s visit to China, it is hoped that the relationship between both the countries will be taken to greater heights in the days to come.
