India, China to discuss border issue again

India and China will hold another round talks soon to discuss the border issue. The two sides have so far held 14 rounds of talks on the issue. The Indian side at the talks will be represented by the Prime Minister's special envoy and national security advisor, Shiv Shankar Menon. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, the Foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupamma Rao said that the dates for the talks are yet to be finalized. Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon, during his recent 4 days visit to Beijing said that the focus in the talks will be to resolve the differences over demarcation of borders and conduct joint military exercises to boost the bilateral ties.Mrs. Nirupamma Rao while rejecting the policy of China on issuing staple visa to Indian citizens from Jammu and Kashmir, asserted that it has been put across to Bejing very clearly that this is unacceptable . In reply to a question on the state visit of the US President, Barak Obama to India in November, she said , New Delhi is looking forward to the visit as it will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two biggest and largest democracies of the world. In response to another question, the Foreign Secretary said that the passage of nuclear liability bill will pave the way for India to have nuclear commerce with international community . This she said, will go a long way in meeting the growing energy demand in the country. The bill is presently under consideration of a Parliamentary Standing Committee, which is likely to finalize its recommendations by tomorrow. Government is keen to seek approval of this proposed legislation in Parliament in the current session. The full interview of the Foreign Secretary can be heard on FM Gold at 9.30 pm tonight.
