India, China to continue efforts to maintain peace and tranquility on border

India and China will continue to make efforts to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas pending a final resolution of the boundary question. The two countries reiterated their commitment to an early settlement of the issue.

A joint statement issued at the end of three-day visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping said, the two countries expressed their conviction that it will advance basic interest of the two sides.

The two sides noted that improved bilateral military ties are conducive to build mutual trust and confidence.

The two countries agreed to a regular exercise of visits between defence ministries and military leaders so that pragmatic cooperation can be expanded.
