India and China have reaffirmed the need to maintain peace and tranquility on the border, pending a resolution of the boundary question.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who met his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in Thailand said, they discussed all issues including the problems concerning common rivers, boundary issues and matters related to Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. Both the leaders agreed that the boundary question is a complex one.<br/><br/>Addressing a press conference at Hua Hin in Thailand on Sunday, Dr Singh said, both leaders also agreed that existing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation should be used to resolve all issues amicably in the spirit of strategic and cooperative partnership.<br/><br/>On the issue of the Dalai Lama's planned visit to Arunachal Pradesh next month, Dr Singh said that he is an honourable guest of India.<br/><br/>On the question of construction of a Dam on the Brahmaputra river on the Chinese side, the Prime Minister said, he conveyed to Mr. Wen that cooperation in the area of trans- border rivers is of mutual benefit.<br/><br/>Premeir Wen said, Chinese side is already providing hydrological data to India during the flood season and added that relevant discussion on Trans-border river issue could be held through the Expert level mechanism that has been constituted.<br/><br/>Dr Singh said, the foreign ministers of China and India will meet in a couple of days to discuss all the bilateral issues, including contentious ones.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, he was extremely satisfied with India ASEAN Summit and found strong supporters among ASEAN countries who want to strengthen their relations with India in all spheres including economic, human resources, political and security cooperation.<br/><br/>Dr Singh reiterated that Naxalism is the biggest internal security challenge before India. On the Kashmir issue, he said, the government has always maintained that all sections of political opinion, including the groups outside the main-stream in the state be engaged to find a practical solution through constructive dialogue.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister has since returned to New Delhi after participating in the India-ASEAN and East Asia Summits.<br/><br/>In a statement issued at Hua Hin, the 10-block ASEAN leaders have said, India can play an important role in G-20 to raise the voice of developing countries in meeting the challenges of the world economic crisis.
