India on Thursday conveyed its serious concern over terrorism emanating from Pakistani soil to the visiting Chinese Premier. Wen Jiabao who will be travelling to Islamabad on Friday after concluding his visit to India was told that only when terrorism is addressed properly and forces of terrorism are defeated can we have a stable region. Briefing media on the talks between the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in New Delhi today Mrs Rao said Wen Jiabao himself had referred to the terrorism they are facing in Xinjiang province She said that India can move forward in its relations with Pakistan when terrorist groups and their leaders stop pursuing their anti-India agenda In the joint communiqu’ issued after talks between Dr Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counter part Wen jiabao in New Delhi, the two sides committed themselves to countering terrorism through joint efforts that include choking the financing of terrorism. On the issue of stapled visa for residents for Jammu and Kashmir that has been of core concern to India Mrs Rao said that Chinese Premier suggested in depth consultations between the officials of the countries to resolve the issue satisfactorily The joint communiqu’ also says that the two sides have reiterated their commitment to resolving outstanding differences including the boundary question at an early date through peaceful negotiations. Delivering a lecture on India China relations Wen Jiabao said that this is an issue that needs to be addressed with patience .Meanwhile the Hot Line between the Prime Ministers of India and China has been operationalised. Disclosing this, the Foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao said that the hotline became operational 3 to 4 days ago. She said that the technical people have been working on it for some time. The agreement to set up a Hot Line was signed between the External Affairs Minister Mr. S. M. Krishna and his Chinese counterpart Mr. Yang Jiechi in April. The agreement on the Hot Line was a confidence building measure to open a direct channel of communication between leaders of the two countries. Remaining non committal on China's support for India's candidature for permanent membership of the expanded UN Security Council China has said that it understands and supports India's aspiration to play a greater role in the United Nations, including in the Security Council. Mr Wen Jiabao said Beijing believes priority should be given to increasing representation of developing countries in the UN Security Council. On the economic Front , India and China have set a trade target of 100 billion US dollars by 2015 and signed six pacts to boost bilateral cooperation in the areas Green technologies, Banking and promoting cultural and media exchanges, and sharing hydrological data of Satluj river during flooding season.
