India, China ink 3 agreements on commerce, water resources & HRD

India and China have today signed three agreements in the fields of commerce, water resources and human resources development. These agreements facilitate China to set up industrial parks, share hydrological information during Brahmaputra floods and impart training to public officials.

Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and Indian Ambassador in China Ashok Kantha signed the agreements on behalf of India in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari and his Chinese counterpart Li Yuanchao in Beijing today.

The signing of agreements ceremony was held after delegation level talks between Hamid Ansari and his Chinese counterpart at Chinese Parliament called Great Hall of People.

The Memorandum of Understanding on industrial parks is aimed at expanding bilateral trade and investment. It facilitates Chinese companies to invest in industrial parts and zones in India. The agreement also provides a platform for cluster type development of enterprises of the two countries.

The agreement on water resources facilitate exchange of hydrological information between the two countries on Brahmaputra river during floods. The third MoU was signed between Lal Behadur Shastri National Academy of Administration and China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong to provide training to public officials in India.

Earlier, Minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman held talks with her Chinese counterpart Gao Hucheng and discussed bilateral trade and investment.
