India and China have reiterated that the differences on some issues should not become an impediment in the development of friendly relations. Mr N Ravi, Secretary, East, in the Ministry of External Affairs said that both the sides expressed commitment to further deepen the strategic partnership. He was briefing the media after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao at Hua Hin in Thailand yesterday. Mr Ravi said, New Delhi underscored the importance of building better understanding and trust at the political level to make relations more robust. Dr Singh stressed at the meeting that neither side should let the differences to act as an impediment to the growth of functional cooperation between the two countries. Chinese Premier Wen concurred with India's view and added that issues which may arise in the relationship should be properly handled through Discussions.<br/>Mr. Ravi said, Dr. Singh described economic and trade relations as a vital pillar of bilateral partnership and also referred to the exchanges in the defence field. Chinese Prime Minister said the issue of trade deficit is being looked into by his country and favored early consultations of the Joint Economic Group. He said, he has asked Chinese companies to invest in India and also welcomed Indian investment into his country. Referring to the establishment of strategic partnership during his visit to India in 2005 and the 10 pronged strategy and the Vision Document between the two nations, Premier Wen said, an Asian Century can only become a reality, if India and China live in Harmony and Friendship and enjoy prosperity. He said, China is ready to maintain high-level exchanges with India and the bilateral partnership is in the interest of the region and the whole world.<br/>
