India, China discuss recent developments along LAC; focus on additional confidence building measures

India and China focused on additional confidence building measures in the two-day talks between the representatives of the two countries that ended in New Delhi today.

They also discussed in detail the measures to make working mechanism along the border more efficient to achieve this objective. The two sides reviewed recent developments in the border areas to enhance peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control.

An External Affairs Ministry release said the two delegations also discussed the possibility of introducing an additional route for the Kailash-Manasarovar Yatra.

The meeting of working mechanism for consultation and coordination on India-China border affairs was led by Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs Gautam Bambawale and seniors officials of Defence and Home Ministries from the Indian side. The Chinese side was represented by a composite delegation of its officials.

AIR correspondent reports, the next meeting will be held in China at a mutually convenient date and time.
