India capable of developing EW system-fitted fighter aircraft

The Director, Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE), U K Revankar, has said that India is now capable of developing state of the art Electronic Warfare systems, EW systems. Speaking at a press conference in Bangalore today, he said EW system-fitted fighter aircraft can penetrate into enemy territory without being detected by any radar and are crucial to establish dominance in the present day battlefield. The Defence Avionics Research Laboratory and Defence Electronics Research Laboratory have designed and developed EW systems which can work as sensors to gather intelligence and are capable of jamming enemy radars. He said the EW system is now being produced by Bharat Elecronics Limited. R&D Director of BEL, I V Sarma said in the next eight to ten years, BEL has a business potential of 22,500 crore rupees for supply of EW systems to meet services requirements.
