India and Canada have signed a civil nuclear agreement after the bilateral meeting between Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper. Jointly addressing the media after the inking of the agreement, the two leaders welcomed the Agreement for Cooperation in Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, that paves the way for civil nuclear cooperation between India and Canada. Three Memoranda of Understanding on Earth Sciences and Mining, Cultural cooperation and higher education were also signed. India and Canada also committed to attain the shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $15 billion annually in the next five years. <br/>
