India and Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Geology and Mineral Resources in New Delhi to promote mutual cooperation in the mining and Geo-Science sector.

An official release said that this MoU will also encourage and foster mining investment, transfers of technology and services and joint ventures in British Columbia and India which will be beneficial to both the countries.

Under this MoU a Joint Working Group will be set up to coordinate implementation of activities. The first meeting of the Working Group is expected to be held in March next year.

The Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Government of British Columbia Province, Canada have signed the MoU in the presence of Minister of State for Mines (Independent Charge), Mr. Dinsha J. Patel and Premier of British Columbia Government, Ms. Christy Clark in New Delhi on Thursday.
