India can play key role in strenghtening global nucleur non-proliferation regime says Washington

The United States has said that India has a key role to play in strengthening of global nuclear non-proliferation regime. The US Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P J Crowley told reporters that India will have an important role to play both in terms of reinforcing and strengthening the Non-Proliferation Treaty as well as allowing the growth of civilian nuclear capacity.<br/><br/>Mr Crowley said, the US is less concerned about the exchange of nuclear weapons among states but more concerned about how to keep nuclear technology and know-how out of the hands of outlier states and rogue elements.<br/><br/>Earlier in the day, Special US Advisor Non Proliferation and Arms Control Robert J Einhorn said US and India have increasingly become partners in this area of dealing with the global proliferation threat with the threat of nuclear terrorism.<br/>
