Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, India can become the global food factory for the entire world, if the infrastructure in the sector is developed fully. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference about the upcoming World Food India – 2017 in New Delhi today, Ms Badal said, making India self-reliant in food processing sector is a necessity for the entire world. <br/><br/>She urged everybody to be part of the No Waste On My Plate campaign to ensure that no one sleeps hungry. Food processing Secretary J P Meena said, Japan , Germany and Denmark are partner countries and over two thousand participants from 30 countries will take part in the mega event to be held early next month in the national capital. He said, Italy and Netherlands are focus countries.<br/><br/>It would be the first International Mega Event to attract investment and trading in food processing sector in India. The Food Processing Industry is one of the largest industries in India and ranks fifth in terms of production, consumption, and exports. <br/><br/>It is a sunrise sector that has gained prominence in the recent years. Availability of raw materials, changing lifestyles and appropriate fiscal policies have given a considerable push to the industry's growth. This sector serves as a vital link between the agriculture and industrial segments of the economy.
