Government says, there is need for another green revolution to meet the growing demands and to establish India at the global stage. Addressing a function in New Delhi today, Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said that India can become the food basket to the world in the next two decades. He however said that for this, the country should focus on processing of agricultural products. Mr Scindia emphasised that to uplift the overall growth of the economy, the agriculture sector should grow at atleast 4.5 to 5 percent. He stressed on the need for inclusive growth and moving up the value chain. Speaking on the occasion, Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said the industry should move beyond increasing agricultural productivity and focus on addressing technical and quality issues in the food processing industry.
