India called for increased economic cooperation with Uruguay in sectors like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, automobiles, machineries and IT to enhance bilateral trade. An official release said that in 2009-10, two-way commerce between India and the South American nation Uruguay amounted to just 64.37 million US dollars. Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, who met visiting Uruguay Industry, Energy and Mining Minister Roberto Kreimerman in New Delhi on Thursday said considering the huge opportunities in areas of mutual interest, the volume of bilateral trade was very low.
