India have bounced back to second place in the Commonwealth Games adding one more gold taking the total number of golds to 22 . Gagan Narang won his fourth gold in the 50 metre rifle 3 position shooting event on Saturday afternoon. With Gagan's gold India have equaled its 2006 Melbourne Games performance. Gagan also created a new games record scoring 1262.2 points. The Silver went to Jonathan Hemund of Scotland and bronze to James Heckle of England. There is stiff competition between India and England for the second place. England over took India on Saturday morning as it had more medals to its credit though both the countries had 21 golds each. Australia which has established an unassailable lead is at number one with 48 golds. The first medal of the day for India came in Athletics with Harminder Singh securing bronze in 20 Kilometer Men's walk race Saturday morning. Australia won the gold and silver in this event. A jubilant Harminder expressed happiness on his achievement. Besides 22 golds, India has 16 Silver and equal number of Bronze medals to its credit. Vijay Kumar and Harpreet Singh won gold in 25 metres Centre fire pistol pairs in shooting. The third gold was for Vijay Kumar. It is the second golden hat-trick by Indian shooters. In Women's 20 Kms walk category, England's Jo Jackson won gold. Australia's C. Tallent won silver while Kenya won bronze. India on Saturday won their second medal in shooting. Suma Shirur and Kavita Yadav finished third in 10 meter Air rifle pairs winning the bronze. Another medal came from Table-Tennis as Indian men's team defeated Nigeria 3-0 in contest for the third place. In Wrestling, India's Yogeshwar Dutt advanced into the finals of the 60 Kilogram freestyle event, while Anil Maan lost his match in the 96 Kilogram category. Narsingh Pancham Yadav in 64 kg category advanced to the finals beating Mac donald of Canada 2-1. In Squash, India's Harvinder Paul Sandhu and Sandeep Jhangda defeated Uganda 8-11,11-4,11-3 to advance to the sixth round. In Tennis, India is assured of a medal with Sania Mirza competing in the Singles Final against Anastasia Rodinova of Australia. A Bronze is also in the offing in men's doubles as Mahesh Bhupati and Leander paes takes on Rohan Bopanna and Somdev Devverman for a third place finish. With 32 gold up for grabs in Archery, shooting, Wrestling, weightlifting and Tennis events, India's quest for more medals will be watched with huge fanfare. Of these, the Maximum of 9 gold medals each will be decided in swimming and athletics, while Shooting will account for 4 gold medals. Wrestling will offer 3 golds followed by 2 each in Tennis, Archery and weightlifting events. In Table Tennis, gold will be decided in men's team event. Hosts India are hoping for Gold medals in Shooting, Wrestling, Tennis and Weightlifting events. Two golds will be decided in weightlifting in 94 kilogram men's and 75 kilogram women's categories. India are hoping for a good show from the lifters Gita Rani, Monika Laishram Devi and Srishti Singh in women's category.
