India and Botswana today signed two Memorandum of understandings in the field of agriculture and allied sector and exchange programme in the field of education. The MoUs were signed after bi-lateral talks between the Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and his Botswana counterpart Mr. Mr Momathi S.Meraphe . Briefing reporters, Secretary West in the External affairs ministry, Mr Vivek Katju said thrust would be given on areas of agriculture research, agriculture machinery, livestock and horticulture. He informed a joint acting group will be established between the two countries to review the progress. On the MoU in education, Mr Katju informed that India would set up of chair on contemporary studies in the African nation and exchange of academic staff would be implemented.<br/><br/>He said both the leaders discussed a host of international issues like reforms in the UN system, and climate change. Mr Katju said the two leaders also discussed regional issues like situation in Zimbabwe and Congo. Earlier, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari on the last leg of his tour to African nations today reached in the Botswana capital Gabaron. He was given a grand welcome at Sir Sereste Khama International Airport .
