India , Bosnia-Herzegovina Legal Assistance Treaty signed

India and Bosnia-Herzegovina today signed a mutual legal assistance treaty in criminal matters which is expected to strengthen co-operation between the two countries on internal security. The treaty aims at improving effectiveness of the two countries in investigation and prosecution of crime including crime related to terrorism and confiscation of proceeds and instruments of crime.The agreement, signed by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran and Bosnia-Herzegovina Minister of Justice Barisa Colak.A Home Ministry statement said that it will come into force after exchange of instruments of ratification.Our correspondent adds that two bilateral treaties–agreement on transfer of Sentenced Persons and extradition treaty will also be negotiated between the two sides. The Bosnia-Herzegovina official delegation is on a two-day visit to India.
