India, Bhutan to enhance cooperation in energy sector

India and Bhutan have decided to scale up cooperation in energy sector. Possibility of expanding India's development assistance to the Himalayan Kingdom also came up for discussion when Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met visiting Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. They also discussed the unique nature of India-Bhutan ties and a host of issues of mutual interest. Bhutanese King arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning on a nine-day visit to India. He met the External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Home Minister P. Chidambaram later in the day. He will also meet Defence Minister A.K. Antony and deliver a keynote address at a function to mark the golden jubilee of the National Defence College in New Delhi on Thursday. An alumnus of the College, he will be part of another function there next day also to be attended by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
