India and Belgium have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and in the fields of science and technology. The matter came up for discussion during discussions between visiting Vice President Hamid Ansari and Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme in Brussals today. Briefing news persons Secretary-East, Ministry of External Affairs Latha Reddy said both countries noted that vigorous engagement by the private sector has helped to deepen bilateral relations. The Belgian Prime Minister described the relationship between the two countries as a flourishing one, and added that he looked forward to exploring new initiatives to enhance the relationship, during the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to Brussels later this year.In the other bilateral discussion, India and Greece agreed to increase bilateral cooperation in the fields of shipping, terrorism, piracy and tourism. In the bilateral discussions with Ansari, Prime Minister George Papandreou offered to share its experience in fighting organised crime.The Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohammed Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak expressed the hope that the framework and in principle agreement of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with India will be finalised before the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to that country. Both countries agreed on the need to strengthen ASEM.
