India beat Sri Lanka by 16 runs in the ICC Women&apos;s World Cup at Derby in England. Earlier, Indian team set the victory target of 233 against Sri Lanka. Deepti Sharma&apos;s 78 and skipper Mithali Raj&apos;s 53 propelled India to 232 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs after India elected to bat first. Losing both openers early in the innings, Deepti and Mithali steadied the Indian ship and etched together a 100-run partnership. For Sri Lanka, Sripali Weerakkody finished with three for 28 in nine overs.
