India beat South Africa by 130 runs in World Cup Group 'B' match

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, defending champions India today crushed South Africa by 130 runs in a Group-B game at Melbourne to register their second consecutive victory of the tournament. This was also the first time India won against South Africa in the World Cup.Opting to bat first, Team India posted 307 for 7, riding on opener Shikhar Dhawan's 137. Ajinkya Rahane also played a valuable part in compiling the 300-plus total. He made 79 runs off just 60 balls.In reply, South Africa were bundled out for 177 in 40.2 overs. Spinner R. Ashwin bagged three wickets, with Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma claiming two each. Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged man of the match.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Team India for the victory.Earlier today, Sri Lanka toiled hard before beating debutants Afghanistan by 4 wickets in a Group-A encounter at Dunedin.Tomorrow, England will take on Scotland in Pool-A at Christchurch at 3:30 AM Indian Time.
