In Hockey, India has lifted the Men's Asian Champions Trophy. In a thrilling Final at Kuantan, Malaysia, India defeated arch-rivals and defending champions Pakistan, 3-2 to win the tournament for the second time. It had won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2011.Rupinder Pal Singh, the tournament's leading goal scorer, took his tally to 11 when he opened the scoring. Affan Yousuf doubled the lead before Pakistan bounced back strongly with 2 goals. Nikkin Thimmaiah, then, broke the deadlock in the fourth and final quarter helping India to remain without a defeat in this competition. In the third-place match, hosts Malaysia defeated South Korea 3-1 in the penalty shootout. The match went into shootout after both the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation period.Over in the Women's section of the tournament, India came back from a goal behind and defeated South Korea 2-1 in their second round-robin game. Rani and Deepika scored for India after Eeseul Baek had put the Koreans in front. India is now at the top of the 5-nation table with 4 points. In the opener, the Indian eves were held by Japan, 2-2. Indian eves will play its next game against hosts Malaysia on Tuesday.
