India beat New Zealand by an innings and 115 runs in the first cricket Test at Hydrabad yesterday to take 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. India, after posting 438 on the board in their first innings, dismissed New Zealand twice to inflict on them an innings defeat. India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin produced a career-best 12-wicket match haul and crushed the visitors.India won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup beating hosts and defending champion Australia by 6 wickets in the final at Townsville. Chasing a victory target of 226, India made 227 for 4 in 47.4 overs.The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has congratulated the Indian under-19 cricket team for their victory.
