India beat New Zealand 3-2 in the Asia/Oceania Davis Cup Group I Tennis tie to advance to World Group Play-offs as Yuki Bhambri defeated Michael Venus in the deciding match in Christchurch today. Yuki beat Venus 6-2, 6-2, 6-3. Earlier today, Somdev Devvarman brought India back in the Group I tie as he tamed Marcus Daniell in straight sets to level the tie against New Zealand 2-2. Somdev prevailed over Daniell 6-4 6-4 6-4 in the first of the two reverse singles to keep India in hunt. India were yesterday left trailing 1-2 against New Zealand as Rohan Bopanna and Saketh Myneni suffered a defeat in straight sets at the hands of Artem Sitak and Marcus Daniell.
