India beat Lanka by 6 wickets, take 2-0 lead

The Indian women's cricket team have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. In the second encounter in Ranchi today, the hosts beat the visitors by six-wickets. India had won the first match in Ranchi by 107 runs on Monday. The third and final match will be played in Ranchi on Friday. Opting to bat first, at the JSCA International Stadium Complex today, Sri Lanka could manage only 178 for nine in the allotted 50 overs. India achieved the victory target by making 179 for four in 43.1 overs. Skipper Mithali Raj remained unbeaten on 53. Opener Smriti Mandhana – 46, and Harmanpreet Kaur – 41 were the other notable scorers. 18-year-old medium pacer Deepti Sharma was the wrecker in chief for India in the Sri Lankan innings. She picked up four wickets for 23 runs. The scores:-Sri Lanka women: 178 fo 9 in 50 overs. India women: 179 for 4 in 43.1 overs.
