India beat Ireland by 5 runs; enter semifinals of Women's T20 World Cup 2023

India are through to the Semifinals of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.  They defeated Ireland in their last Group 2 match by 5 runs on DLS method as rain disrupted play.

India posted 155 on the board, thanks to Smriti Mandhana's knock of 87 runs. In reply, Ireland got off to a horrific start losing two wickets in the first over of their chase which included a run-out. Captain Laura Delany – who picked three wickets along with Gaby Lewis steadied the ship and kept their team in the hunt as the duo stitched a fifty partnership. But the heavens opened up in the 9th over and Ireland were five runs behind the DLS par score of 59.

After the 11-run loss to England on Saturday, India was in second spot with four points from three matches behind England which has qualified for the semifinals.
