India are through to the Semifinals of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa. They defeated Ireland in their last Group 2 match by 5 runs on DLS method as rain disrupted play.
India posted 155 on the board, thanks to Smriti Mandhana's knock of 87 runs. In reply, Ireland got off to a horrific start losing two wickets in the first over of their chase which included a run-out. Captain Laura Delany – who picked three wickets along with Gaby Lewis steadied the ship and kept their team in the hunt as the duo stitched a fifty partnership. But the heavens opened up in the 9th over and Ireland were five runs behind the DLS par score of 59.
After the 11-run loss to England on Saturday, India was in second spot with four points from three matches behind England which has qualified for the semifinals.
