Riding on goals by Chinglensana Singh and SV Sunil, Indian men's hockey team defeated France 2-0 in their opening Test match of the two-match series at Le Touquet last night. Chinglensana scored the opening goal to give India the lead while Sunil slotted the second goal to put India in the driver's seat against the hosts. Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh guarded the post brilliantly to deny France any chance of scoring.India had earlier defeated France in the recently concluded Hockey World League semifinals in Belgium. Indian hockey team under new coach Roelant Oltmans have earned a morale boosting win and will look forward to clinch the series against the Frenchmen. India will play their second and last match against France tomorrow.
