India defeated England by 15 runs in the second One-day International at Cuttack today, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. At the Barabati Stadium, sent into bat, India plundered 381 for six in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, despite skipper Eoin Moragan's 102, the visitors could manage only 366 for eight in the stipulated 50 overs. In the Indian innings, centuries by Player of the Match Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped the team recover from a precarious 25 for three inside five overs. The two added 256 runs for the fourth wicket. Yuvraj made150 off 127 balls which was his 14th ODI hundred and his first since the 2011 World Cup. It was also his career best knock in One Day Internationals. Dhoni's 134 came off 122 balls, which was his 10th ODI hundred. The total was India's second highest against England behind their 387 for 5 in Rajkot in 2008. It was also a recordscore at the venue, bettering 363 for 5 against Sri Lanka in 2014. India now lead the three-match series 2-0 with wins at Pune and Cuttack. The third and final game is slated to be played at Kolkata on January 22.
